Ingredient Information

Safflower Oil (comedogenic rating 0)- Rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that offers many benefits for skin, including maintenance of the cell membrane integrity. Linoleic acid is also an important carrier of Vitamins A, D, K and especially Vitamin E. It offers powerful cleansing properties. Linoleic acid reduces the risk of clogged pores that can lead to blackheads and acne breakouts.

Pumpkin Oil (comedogenic rating 2)- Rich in Vitamin E, Zinc, Omega 3- and 6- fatty acids as well as antioxidants, therefore it has tremendous benefits for the skin in terms of retaining moisture, fighting free radicals and maintaining a youthful appearance. The high amounts of Zinc and Vitamin E also improve skin tone, help wounds heal more rapidly, fight acne and help with skin renewal, plus the minerals and vitamins have anti-aging effects as well.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil (comedogenic rating 1)- Often referred to as nature's natural sunscreen, a 2000 study found that the UVA and UVB protection afforded by raspberry seed oil is reportedly similar to titanium dioxide with an SPF protection factor against UVB rays of 28-50, and an SPF protection factor against UVA rays of around 8 (I would still suggest using your regular sunscreen along with the Nourishing Balm). Raspberry oil is also high in Essential fatty acids, Vitamin E and Polyphenols which means it is an excellent source for cell regeneration, protecting your skin from free radicals , improving tone and elasticity.

Avocado Oil (comedogenic rating 2) -  Contains a high amount of proteins and unsaturated fats, both of which are strong skin agents. The oil contains a substance called sterolin, which studies have shown to help soften the skin and reduce the signs of age spots. Lastly it is rich in antioxidants, making it useful for healing sun-damaged skin. Vitamins like A, D and E in avocados cause the skin to be supler, and are thus particularly wonderful for dry or aging skin.

Borage Oil (comedogenic rating 2) - known as one of the richest sources of essential fatty acids. It is the richest source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA) - up to 25%.  It is also a fantastic source for vitamins, and minerals.

Frankincense - Frankincense oil promotes regeneration of healthy cells and also keeps the existing cells and tissues healthy. It has potent anti-aging qualities that can help eliminate sun spots, remove micro-wrinkles around the eyes and cheeks and generally tone and tighten your skin, while simultaneously replacing old or dying cells with new, healthy ones!

*What is the comedogenic rating? Every oil has a rating of how likely it will clog your pores. It goes from 0 (highly unlikely) to 5 (very Likely) I never use any oil above a 2.
